Moombahton is a fusion genre of house music and reggaeton that was created by American DJ and producer Dave Nada in Washington, D.C., in 2009. Identifying characteristics of moombahton include a thick and spread-out bass line, dramatic builds; and a two-step pulse, with quick drum fills. Occasionally moombahton includes ravey synthesizers and acappella rap samples. Nada coined the name as a portmanteau of "Moombah" (a track by Dutch house DJ Chuckie) and reggaeton (itself derived from combining the term reggae with the Spanish suffix -ton signifying "big").[1]

Moombahcore is a style of different moombahton incorporating dubstep influences. As well as incorporating elements of Dutch house as moombahton does, moombahcore also fuses elements of gabber, breakcore, techstep and dubstep. Moombahcore tracks often feature wobble bass, FM synthesis, distorted basslines, aggressive sounds, violent snares and leads, and complex percussion patterns.[2]

Monstercat usually categorizes these songs with Glitch Hop / 110 BPM and as such these songs are usually associated a light green/mint color.
